About me

I am interested in using DNA metabarcoding to assess, monitor and quantify biodiversity. I apply this approach on various taxonomic groups (e.g. bacteria, fungi, insects, plankton) in terrestrial, freshwater and marine ecosystems.

I am currently the project coordinator of the Working Package (WP) 2.3 "Integration of non-invasive methods for evaluating the effectiveness of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs)", one of the WPs of the multidisciplinary and multi-institutional project CREATE (Concepts for Reducing the Effects of Anthropogenic pressures & uses on marine Ecosystems and on Biodiversity). CREATE is part of the mission sustainMare within the German Alliance for Marine Research (DAM) and is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF, 03F0836A).
